IPVC 2020 workshops focuse on the theme, “Science and Education for Action Against HPV.” They provide state-of-the-art knowledge on all papillomavirus (PV)-related topics, from basic science to global health impact.
Workshops are run by and have speakers who are worldwide leaders in the field. They provide a unique forum for education and discussion, for the full spectrum of professional audiences – junior through senior researchers; basic scientists, clinicians and public health investigators.
At IPVC 2020, the pre-conference workshops are made up of interdisciplinary workshops, consisting of a series of talks covering key aspects of basic science, clinical and public health, and workshops covering each of the three tracks – basic science, clinical or public health-global impact – where specific topics of contemporary interest are covered. A particular emphasis is given to controversial areas of research and on experiences across different populations.
Although workshops stand alone as an educational and scientific activity, they are designed to provide the necessary scientific background to follow the main conference, where the latest knowledge in research will be presented. For junior scientists, the workshops help them to be educated on both the basics and cutting-edge knowledge of papillomavirus biology, epidemiology and prevention and control of papillomavirus infection and disease.
IPVC 2020 workshops are a unique way to connect across the fields, and attendees will enjoy PV research from different perspectives and participate in wider scientific discussions.

The International Papillomavirus Society and Eurogin are pleased to hold Maurice Hilleman Award Ceremony at the IPVC 2020 Conference.
The Maurice Hilleman award honors the memory of Maurice Hilleman, PhD, one of the most effective vaccinologists in history. Dr. Maurice Hilleman led Merck MSD’s Department of Virus and Cell Biology from 1956 to 1984. Of the fourteen vaccines routinely recommended in current vaccine schedules, he developed eight, including measles, mumps, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, chickenpox, meningitis, pneumonia and Haemophilus influenzae bacteria.
A committee comprised of members of the IPVS Board and the Eurogin Scientific Committee selected the winner from among the submitted nominations.
We are delighted to announce that the 2020 Maurice Hilleman Award was given to to Dr. Laura Koutsky, MSPH, PhD in recognition of her outstanding contribution to HPV research and for the breakthrough results she achieved as principal investigator in the very first proof-of principle HPV-16 VLP vaccine trials.
Dr. Koutsky will deliver a keynote lecture at a dedicated ceremony on Wednesday July 22nd 16:00 CET.
